Pinky’s story
Pinky — A Gentle Soul in Search of a New Beginning
This sweet, soulful boy is affectionately called Pinky, named after his soft pink nose — but he's ready for a fresh start, and that includes a new, unique name to go with his new life.
Pinky is timid and shy at first, but not because he lacks love — he just needs someone who understands that kindness, patience, and time are the keys to helping him open up. Once he feels safe, you'll discover a deeply loyal, goofy and tender-hearted companion.
He's a quiet soul who loves peaceful places where he can just relax by your side... but don't be fooled — he's also a true water lover and feels at home by the lake or a gentle stream.
Whether it's a splash or a snooze, he's happiest when the world slows down.
Pinky is looking for a gentle human (or two) who will show him that not all humans are scary, that he's safe now, and that he's worthy of love every single day. Pinky came to us last year after being left behind by his owners. He was in rough shape, and yet so full of love and affection. Pinky is now doing SO much better... but he is very scared here at the shelter. He cowers and shakes, and we are hurting for him. A boy like Pinky deserves to finally know what love in a home is. He would benefit from a large fenced in yard, especially until he feels secure with you, he loves to run around outside and play with tennis balls. He's a typical hound (but better) and really never barks, he sits in his kennel waiting quietly for someone to come get him.
Could that be you? Could you be the one to give him a forever home — and maybe even help him find a new name that suits his beautiful spirit?

Pinky has recently been evaluated by one of our resident trainers and he may do well with another very calm, easy going dog.
If you believe in second chances and have a quiet place in your heart and home, Pinky is waiting for you.
We are currently promoting our foster program in hopes of getting each of our long timers the chance to be in a real home. (Pinky got to do this for a night and LOVED swimming and snuggling in a bed, his foster got to see the real side of Pinky) If you are interested in meeting Pinky or any of these very needy pups, please stop by True Friends, Tuesday through Saturday 12-3. You can also call our director, Dory at 570-396-6011 for more information.
