Meet Octavia.

From Running the Streets to Stealing Hearts: Meet Octavia

Many of you may remember seeing a large Mastiff running loose around Hallstead a few weeks ago. She stayed close to the same area for days, always just out of reach — until the incredible team at Sadie's New Leash on Life Dog Trapping safely brought her to us.

Once Octavia arrived, we gave her exactly what she needed: time.

A few quiet days to decompress. A chance to realize she was finally safe. An opportunity to learn that nobody here was going to hurt her.

And when her walls came down, we discovered the amazing dog hiding underneath.

• Completely housebroken
• Walks beautifully on a leash
• Knows several commands
• Takes her vaccines like an absolute champion
• Loves to climb into your lap despite her size
• Belly rubs are her favorite thing in the world

Octavia absolutely adores her people. While she can still be a bit bashful with new faces, she's quickly learning that strangers often become friends — and many are greeted with a wagging tail and slobbery Mastiff kisses.

She is everything we love about giant breeds: gentle, loyal, affectionate, and deeply connected to the people she trusts.

Because of her size, breed traits, and needs, Octavia will require a home with Mastiff experience or adopters willing to learn and understand what it means to share life with a giant breed companion.

Octavia is scheduled to be spayed later this month and will officially begin her search for the forever family she has always deserved.

After surviving on her own, we think it's finally time for this sweet girl to know what it means to be someone's beloved companion.
